Thrive Community Empowerment Initiative (TCEI) is registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with the National NGO Board (Number: 8139).
It was initially established as a community based organisation (CBO) in 2018 and was registered as an NGO in 2020 to provide support to the underserved, marginalized and vulnerable groups in Uganda thereby empowering them to have a resilient livelihood and reduce vulnerability in their lives.

TCEI focuses on empowering underserved and marginalized communities in Uganda. We implement programs focused on food security, livelihoods, nutrition, integrated health (including WASH), and financial literacy.
We support healthy life initiatives and mental health support, vocational training, and livelihood development to help individuals, especially women, build sustainable futures.
We know that marganilised and poor communities are the most vulnerable as they lack access to nutrients and quality healthcare-all of which save lives.This is especially true in deprived areas.Our programmes aim to improve access to nutrious food,support menstrual hygiene management. Mental Health disorders in Uganda continue to be a public health challenge. A 2022 survey found that 22.9% of children in Uganda and 24.2% of adults were suffering with mental illness.We work with organisations that address mental health in a cost effective manner integrating it within healthy life initiatives so it is not only transformative,but but changes lives

Access to clean water is a fundermental right yet,in large parts of Uganda poor people are still facing the daily challenge of accessing safe water sources.They spend hours trekking long distances and coping with the health impacts of using contaminated water.Children across Uganda are particularly vulnerable to health issues stemming from poor hygiene and unsafe drinking water.In terms of mortality, diarrhea remains a leading cause of death among children under five in Uganda. approximately 3% of children under five who contract diarrhea die as a result of the illness.

The gap between rich and poor in Uganda grows wide every year and leads to huge differences in life chances.Over 42% of the Ugandan population lives below the poverty line of $1.77 per person per day and almost half of the population is under 15. Women in Uganda face several barriers to seizing economic opportunities that stem from economic political and social exclusion Change at scale is possible when we work with others and amplify the voices of people experiencing.

Parts of Uganda are facing more extreme weather.Climate related droughts,flooding destroying crops and livelihoods,Pollution,deforestation,loss of biodiversity. Without addressing the climate crisis directly the poor and marginalised will bear the greatest burden. We work with implementing partners to invest in solutions for communities that reduce exposure to climate risks,provide resilience and adoptation allow financial benefits for stakeholders.

In the bustling slums of Kiwatule Wabidugu, a group of 20 women who had previously experienced immense hardship, including being victims of domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, sex trade, and incarceration, are transforming their lives with the support of the Thrive Empower Her program. This initiative, designed to help reintegrate ex-offenders back into their communities and provide mental health support, is fostering empowerment and sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable women.

Jovia is a widow aged 63 years living at Nakuwadde village, Nakabugo Parish, Wakiso sub – county, Wakiso district. Together with her 3 daughters who are mentally retarded and disabled, they are occupying a one roomed rental house that costs her Ug shs 50,000/= per month.

We are supporting clean clean-water system for rural disadvantaged communities in Masindi and Luwero district.

We work with communities to develop, implement and maintain community -managed, sustainable water and sanitation facilities. We sensitise communities about proper hygiene and sanitation,and advocate for clean and safe water for vulunerable members of the community.
